Aiolos is a dictation app for the Mac: hold a key, speak, let go, and your words appear wherever your cursor is blinking. In every app and in 99 languages, recognized right on your Mac.
50 of 50 spots left · free for life · macOS 15, Apple silicon
Works wherever you type: Mail · Outlook · Slack · Microsoft Teams · Notion · Word · Google Docs · ChatGPT · Claude · Cursor · WhatsApp · Chrome
The fn key 🌐 at the bottom left by default. You can pick any other, including ⌥ Option or a combination.
Just the way you talk. Aiolos listens right on your Mac, not on a server.
The text appears where your cursor is, cleanly worded and ready to send.
Said: “Can we move the, um, review to Thursday, no, Friday at 2 pm? The slides should be ready by then, and please send me last quarter’s numbers before that.” Written: “Can we move the review to Friday at 2 pm? The slides should be ready by then, and please send me last quarter’s numbers before that.”
While you speak, the ⇧ key switches between modes, and you switch off the ones you don’t need. Try it here.
“Um, can you tell the team that we’re moving the review to Thursday, no, Friday at 2 pm, and, uh, the slides should be ready by then.”
Can you tell the team that we’re moving the review to Friday at 2 pm? The slides should be ready by then.
Filler words gone, your self-correction applied, punctuation in place. It reads as if you had written it.
“Um, can you tell the team that we’re moving the review to Thursday, no, Friday at 2 pm, and, uh, the slides should be ready by then.”
Um, can you tell the team that we’re moving the review to Thursday, no, Friday at 2 pm, and, uh, the slides should be ready by then.
Word for word, exactly what you said. No AI, and it works offline.
“Um, can you tell the team that we’re moving the review to Thursday, no, Friday at 2 pm, and, uh, the slides should be ready by then.”
Write a short, friendly message to the team: – The review moves to Friday at 2 pm. – The slides should be ready by then. Tone: matter-of-fact, three sentences at most.
Your train of thought becomes a clear instruction for ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor.
“Um, can you tell the team that we’re moving the review to Thursday, no, Friday at 2 pm, and, uh, the slides should be ready by then.”
Hi team, we’re moving the review to Friday at 2 pm. Please have the slides ready by then. Thanks, [Your name]
Your words as a task: Aiolos writes the message for the team, with a placeholder for what you didn’t say.
The Assistant is the fourth mode. Instead of text, you dictate an instruction, and Aiolos carries it out, in any app.
Works with the AI in the cloud and with the offline AI on your Mac.

hey can u send me the file asap
Replaces the selection
Could you please send me the file as soon as possible?
Right in the app you’re in. ⌘Z undoes it.
Cursor in an empty email
Appears at the cursor
Hi, I’m sorry, but I won’t be able to make it on Friday. Could we find another time? Best, [Your name]
What you didn’t say, the AI doesn’t make up. A placeholder stands there instead.

The quarterly numbers look good, but churn went up by two percent.
It’s mixed news: the quarterly numbers are good, but rising churn means more customers are leaving.
The answer appears in a window above the pill. Your text stays as it is.
Correction, prompt, translation and the Assistant also work with an AI model right on your Mac, and on powerful Macs so do meeting notes. Then not even text leaves your device: on a train, on a plane, with confidential writing.
No server, no account, no connection needed.
Aiolos records your calls right on your Mac, with no bot in the room, and then writes notes with action items, decisions and names. Straight to Notion, Obsidian or OneNote if you like.
Aiolos recognizes speech with Whisper right on your Mac. No recording goes to a server, not even ours.
For Correction, the Assistant and meeting notes, only text goes to the AI, never audio. By default the models run in EU data centers and don’t switch to other regions on their own. Neither we nor the AI providers store your text, and nobody trains on it.
Transcripts and notes stay on your Mac. With the offline AI (beta), correction, translation, the Assistant and, if you like, meeting notes stay entirely on your Mac too.
“I built Aiolos because I think faster than I type, and I didn’t want to send my voice to someone else’s servers for it. The first 50 get it for free: tell me what’s missing.”
As an early bird, you get everything and use the AI with your own key. After that, Aiolos comes free with limits, or as Pro with the AI included.

Aiolos is a dictation app for the Mac. You hold a key, speak and let go, and your words appear in whatever app you're writing in. Speech recognition runs with Whisper right on your Mac. If you like, an AI turns it into finished text, a prompt, or carries out an instruction. On top of that come meeting notes with no bot in the call.
No. After the early bird phase, the AI is included: 2,000 AI words a week on the free plan, fair use on Pro. Only with the early bird license do you add your own OpenRouter key, and the in-app introduction shows you how in a few minutes. Dictating in Raw mode, word for word, needs no AI at all.
You say what should happen. With selected text, it changes it as you ask, such as “make this friendlier” or “translate this into German”. Without a selection, it writes at the cursor, such as a short email. And if you ask something about the selected text, it answers in a small window without changing your text.
Yes. Select the text and press the translate shortcut. In a text field, the translation replaces the selection. Where nothing can be changed, such as on a web page or in a PDF, it appears in a small window you copy it from. The same goes for corrections and the Assistant.
Yes. Dictating in Raw mode always works offline. With the offline AI (beta), for early birds and on Pro, so do Correction, Prompt, translation and the Assistant, with an AI model right on your Mac. On Macs with 32 GB of memory and a Pro, Max or Ultra chip, it writes meeting notes too.
On your Mac. Aiolos stores nothing in the cloud and needs no account. Only when you use AI does text go to the AI models, by default in data centers in the EU: on the free plan and Pro through our server and OpenRouter, with your own key directly through OpenRouter. Neither we nor the AI providers store it. Audio never leaves your Mac.
Aiolos launches on the Mac first. The Windows version is coming soon.
Automatically. Aiolos looks for new versions itself and installs them once you agree.
The first 50 users get Aiolos free, with no expiry date. Updates are free too, for as long as we offer them to early birds; the version you have stays yours either way. You receive a personal license key for one device (a Mac or, once Aiolos is available for it, a Windows PC) and get every feature without the free plan's limits, offline AI (beta) included. You use the AI with your own OpenRouter key and pay for it directly there, with no markup from us: about $0.19 per 1,000 dictations and about $0.05 per meeting hour. In return, you agree that we may contact you by email for marketing purposes, such as news, surveys and feedback. You can withdraw at any time, with the link in every email or in the privacy policy, and keep your license.
The first 50 users get Aiolos free for life as early birds. After the early bird phase, there are two plans: Free, with unlimited dictation without AI, 2,000 AI words a week and AI notes for 3 meetings a month, and Pro for €59 a year or €7.99 a month, AI included. All prices include VAT.
A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 15 Sequoia or later. For the offline AI, Aiolos recommends the right model for your memory, from 8 GB.
99 languages, including English, German, French, Spanish and Italian. Aiolos detects the language on its own, or you can set it.
Apple's built-in dictation writes down what you say. Aiolos can do that too (Raw mode), but can also turn it into finished text right away: without filler words, with your self-corrections applied, as a prompt or as a written-out message. On top come a dictionary, snippets, improving and translating selected text, and meeting notes. More in the comparison with Apple Dictation.
Wispr Flow recognizes speech in the cloud and, according to its maker, always needs an internet connection. Aiolos recognizes speech on your Mac, offline too, and runs the AI in EU data centers by default. Superwhisper also recognizes speech locally and runs on more platforms. The details: Aiolos vs. Wispr Flow and Aiolos vs. Superwhisper.
Setup takes a few minutes. The in-app introduction walks you through every step.
